Configure Regions
Overview
In the three northern provinces of the Netherlands we use the following regions configured in the repeaters:
| MC Region | Scope |
|---|---|
| nl | National region for the Netherlands |
| nl-gr | Province: Groningen |
| nl-dr | Province: Drenthe |
| nl-fr | Province: Friesland |
| nl-noord | Unofficial region for all three northern provinces |
How to configure
Repeater: Recommended
The easiest way is to use the official MeshCore app. Connect to your repeater using the remote admin feature and log in using your password. Go to settings and use the Manage Regions feature to add the regions mentioned above. Make sure to Allow Flood (indicated by green checkmark) and save once you are done (use the checkmark in the top bar, next to the +).
Repeater: Advanced
Enter the CLI on your repeater. This can be done multiple ways, for example through the MeshCore smartphone app. To add a region enter the following commands:
region put {region}
region allowf {region}Repeat this for all regions you want to add. When you are done, save the settings using region save to make sure that the configuration persists after restarting your repeater.
Configure your companion
Open a group-chat (like Public or a hashtag-channel like #grunn). There should be an option called Set Region Scope in the 3-dot menu at the top right. Add the region you want and activate it there. You can only have one region per channel.
⚠️ WARNING ⚠️
As of writing this, the regions have not been configured in enough repeaters in the region to make use of this feature. If you follow this last step, your messages will probably not propagate trough the mesh.
